Job Description


Position: 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year Apprentice or Journeyman/woman Welder


Location: Edmonton


Kristian Electric is looking for a Journeyman Welder to join our Edmonton branch. As a Journeyman Welder you will be responsible for fabrication and installation of overhead cranes and hoists in our fabrication shop. This role is open to experienced Journeyman Welders with overhead crane experience as an asset. The successful candidate will be:

· Reliable and organized with maintaining and working with project deadlines and customer requests

· An exceptional customer relationship builder

· Able to work in a fast-paced environment

· Safety focused


Role Summary: A Journeyman Welder working in both our Crane manufacturing fabrication shop and taking service/installation calls at job sites.


Key Responsibilities:

· Welding, cutting, and servicing cranes and hoists

· Following blueprints and service requests diligently

· Fit runways, columns, and overhead cranes accurately to Canadian standards

· Proficient working with alignment devices

· Assisting with projects and special jobs

· Taking work orders, service calls, and carrying through installations


Educational Requirements:

2nd, 3rd, or 4th year Welder Apprentice
OR Certified Journeyman Welder
CWB Certified in FCAW/MCAW/SMAW
High School diploma or GED equivalent

Experience and Skills Required:

· Minimum 2-3 years as an Apprentice or Journeyman Welder

· Experience operating forklifts with valid forklift certification

· Experience operating overhead cranes are considered an asset


Core Competencies:

· Reliable, organized, and attentive to details when working on and servicing overhead cranes, hoists, and projects

· Exceptional customer service experience

· Ability to function as part of a team and to request and accept direction as required

· Advanced knowledge of welding equipment, construction materials, and fabrication techniques

· Make sure welds and cuts follow work orders, blueprints, and the safety and integrity of the business, as well as building regulation compliance

· Safety focused

· Positive attitude towards learning, motivating, working on a team, and engaging with customers

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

· Clear communicator both written and verbally

· Must have valid driver’s license and current driver’s abstract


Working Conditions:

· Shop environment

· Requires steel toed footwear

· Eye protection is provided

· Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lb
