HOIST OPERATOR COURSE

Course

KEL-HT101 (No Pre-requisite required)
 
Suitable For

Operators of monorail hoists, jib joists, Gorbel systems etc. (Max. 8 People)
 
Course Content

Topics include: Legislation, manufacturer’s specifications, identifying hoists and their components, pre-use inspections, lift plan, hazard assessment, load evaluation, load weight calculation, danger zone, pinch points/crush points, rigging selection and inspection, attaching the load to the hoist hook, center of gravity, moving the load safely, positioning the load, removal and proper storage of rigging, shut down procedure.

 
Training Schedule

4 Hours – Classroom training
½ Hour – Individual hands-on training and evaluation of each person
 
Certificate

Wallet sized “Certificate of Training”.  Valid for 3 years.

Training at customer’s facility
Weekday (Mon-Fri) $1495+GST (Plus travel costs outside of Calgary & Edmonton)

Weekend (Sat) $1795+GST

Classroom Training at Kristian Electric w/ Practical at customers facility (More cost effective for 1 – 4 individuals)
$295 per person (registration required with P.O. or credit card)

PAUL BISHOP

Paul has been working in the crane sector since 2008 with very prominent companies in the industry.  He began supervising and overseeing the crane department for Kristian Electric Calgary in 2011.

CAREY FOWLER

Carey has been instructing overhead crane courses for over 8 years.  His years of experience as a Red Seal Millwright in the oil and gas industry has garnered him great experience operating cranes of all sizes and completing the toughest of lifts.

OVERHEAD CRANE COURSE

All overhead crane operators, trainees, supervisors and safety personnel.(Max. 8 people)
 
Course Content

The course follows OH&S Safety bulletin IS009 “guidelines for Safety Training of Overhead Crane Operators and Supervisors”.  Topics include:  Legislation, manufacturer’s specifications, identifying cranes and their components, pre-use inspections, lift plan, hazard assessment, load evaluation, load weight calculation, danger zone, pinch points/crush points, rigging selection and inspection, attaching the load to the crane, center of gravity, signaling, tagline use, moving the load safely, stopping the load safely, positioning the load, removal and proper storage of rigging, shut down procedure.
 
Training Schedule

Day 1 - 8 Hours of classroom training
Day 2 – 1 hour individual hands-on training and evaluation of each person.
 
Certificate

Wallet sized “Certificate of Training” valid for 3 years.

Weekday (Mon-Fri) $2295 + GST (Plus travel costs outside of Calgary & Edmonton)
Weekend (Sat)   $2695 + GST (With theory or practical on Saturday and one regular week day)
